Publisher's summary

Actor, singer...necromancer?

All the world's a stage...even when you're teleported to a new world.

Struggling actress Cara O'Sullivan was walking down the street of Galway one moment, and the next, she was in an ancient tomb in a faraway world. Alone in the dark with her cell phone as her last tenuous connection to home, Cara sings her favorite song. To her astonishment, her song casts a spell of light into the world...and from the depths, something hears her. Challenged by a ghostly knight, a tragic necromancer, and hordes of undead, can a young woman who does not believe in heroes become one herself?

One chapter. That’s all it took

Andrea Parsneau and Pirate Aba do it again. One chapter that’s all it took to become hooked. Andrea delivers another stellar performance as narrator and protagonist. Not sure how I can listen to her for 19 hours and not get bored but she pulls it off. Music fantastic and the story is awesome. Great addition to the wandering inn lore

This was insta love ❤... Grab this and watch pirateaba write magic!!!

I've been dying to read this book and I've had it on pre-order for what seemed like ages 😅. I finally read the blurb and I hope/know that pirateaba's gonna write a book that reaches all the way to eleven. That it won't be like that sorry excuse of a book that AbyssRaven wrote. I only bring this up because in both books the main characters are singers. And I'm definitely looking forward to see what pirateaba gonna write.
Ohhhh my god this is soooooooo good! It was love ❤ by the beginning of the first chapter. As I was fully vested into the story. Not since Ryoka Griffin, another character in pirateaba's Inn-verse, has the main character fought so within herself to not accept the class system of the game governing the system in this universe. As she, Cara just couldn't believe that a mere single song or any number of songs could elevate her class to a hero status. Life just shouldn't work like that.
And pirateaba is an artist painting the words as they land on the pages between the covers. And yeah, pirateaba can wring out every emotion from their readers! Yes, there's even some tears.
Ohhhh and Andrea Parsneau has always been one of my very favorite narrators, but in Gravesong she seriously out did herself, being elevated to master tier levels!
What a great stand-alone novel! And you could try it out even if you've never read any other Inn-verse books!

Here's a quote that amused me:

"She had a tendency to swear when she got upset, which was sometimes often."

great performance, sad story

spoiler...I just don't like sad stories. however, I like this world and how everything works. I'm hooked on the first series despite some sad parts, so hopefully this one will grow on me. because of the first series, I'll definitely try the next book, but I hope it picks up a bit, and becomes more full of people variety, and places as she travels. you couldn't pay me enough to live in the area this story is set in.
dark, dingy, undead bunnies 🐰. Travel to someplace like Liscor Cara!

I loved every minute of it and the narrator was phenomenal.

I didn't want it to end. I can't wait for the next one. I believe the author is writing the second book now.

A beautiful combination of music and story

First off, wow, how did they get Disney to let them use a song. Amazing. And fantastic.

A much more concise and directed story than the main TWI story, and I think this is a great story to start for a glimpse into the biggest world I’ve read.

The characters become real.

Pirateaba is the GOAT…. Now as a review. I sat in my driveway after work for whole chapters. Now I’m left with an empty feeling as always with this books universe. I need more. Narrator has so much range in emotion that i believe she has an actual skill at level 40+.

Worth ever dollar. Can’t wait for next one.

Phenomenal performance

The introduction of actual songs and Andrea’s singing was amazing I felt the need to pause the book just to get the feel of each song and search the lyrics. Goosebumps each time. This is a wonderful addition to the Innverse!

Couldn’t put it down.

Like literally, I couldn’t stop listening to this new book! This is totally insane. A zombie horror fantasy?! Sure I can see the character growth in the MC. She is a tad frustrating as she is fascinating. The world is still the same as in The Wandering Inn, and so the leveling system. Andrea does a wonderful job as usual with all the manny voices. Expect singing, it’s in the title! The hymn at the end, beautiful!!!
10/10 I would pick up this title if you enjoyed the other works of the author.

Great singing voice!

This world always seems so vast and interesting. The main character had a great range of emotions and change, truly wonderful.
