About this listen

Actor, singer...necromancer?

All the world's a stage...even when you're teleported to a new world.

Struggling actress Cara O'Sullivan was walking down the street of Galway one moment, and the next, she was in an ancient tomb in a faraway world. Alone in the dark with her cell phone as her last tenuous connection to home, Cara sings her favorite song. To her astonishment, her song casts a spell of light into the world...and from the depths, something hears her. Challenged by a ghostly knight, a tragic necromancer, and hordes of undead, can a young woman who does not believe in heroes become one herself?

One chapter. That’s all it took

Andrea Parsneau and Pirate Aba do it again. One chapter that’s all it took to become hooked. Andrea delivers another stellar performance as narrator and protagonist. Not sure how I can listen to her for 19 hours and not get bored but she pulls it off. Music fantastic and the story is awesome. Great addition to the wandering inn lore

narration at it's finest!

I enjoyed the storyline. I didn't care for political or religious ideologies being forced down your throat at points, as Pirate had to drive home her point about "dead gods" and foolishness of the sort. Other than the sacrilegious aspects of get writing, the story is engaging. I always play my books on 1.2+ speeds, because I just want to get to the next part.
If you've started the wandering Inn series, then you know how annoying Ryoka could get with her self loathing and selfish mindset. That's about how "Cara" comes off. You can accept that you're in a new rural, but you cannot accept that thingswork very differently from your own world. You can accept that you're in a new world, and that there are ghosts, yet magic is what gives you pause?... That part kept getting on my nerves... But alas, it's still a great story, overall.
Andrea Parsneau Is probably the best narrator that I've ever heard. her range invoices, the ability to sing is so flawlessly... Even though I didn't know most of the songs, it is just amazing how great she is at narrating. so many different characters and they each distinctly had their own voice. I don't think I agree with the voice of the little boy, Cullen, but the rest of them were great.
again, if you have been in the Wandering inn series, you understand that these are also repeated voices. I thought I was hearing Ceria at first (haha).

Just incredible

A must listen for absolutely incredible world building and phenomenal narration.

If you’re scared of getting into The Wandering Inn due to its size… this is a good place to start. Just be warned Andrea and Pirateaba are cruel - and once you finish this you’ll be compelled to read all of it.

Get a coffee ready because you’re going to stay up all night listening!

one of the best bard stories

I'm a sucker for a bard character and even more if it's the MC, so I went into this with high hopes and standards and it didn't disappoint.
the story takes place in the world of the wandering inn series but it's a stand alone story that isn't directly related to the original.
gonna be honest with you the real selling point of this book, and the reason for the review is the narration. I have heard audiobooks where they just speak the lyrics to songs but the narrator actually sings in this and it makes ALL the difference.

horrible MC

Andrea carried this book so hard that her back must have given out...

There's inconsistencies in the writing, it's kinda bland and extremely predictable.

as for the MC she's without a doubt the most unlikable character in the Wandering Inn world...
selfish, arrogant, judgemental, blames everyone else for all her problems and takes zero accountability

Masterful Storytelling

Love this author! Great new series and it ties into everything we have learned about the world from the Wandering Inn series. I do not normally have such strong emotional reactions; however, this author makes me laugh, weep, rage, and rejoice with the colorful cast of characters they have created. This is a wonderful new addition to their world they have built and if you have enjoyed the Wandering Inn series then you should for sure listen to this one as well.

Unexpected surprise Andrea singing and singing good. Sining well in multiple voices was another pleasant surprise.

Fantastically performed

The narrator brings the book to life. It’s a story full of pain and joy, juxtaposed.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🗺️ W O R L D EXPANSION 🤯

Pirate writing & Andrea performing is such a delight. I am accustomed to 25-35 hour releases in this series, so I agree with other reviews that only have one complaint about a 12 hour Pirate Aba release: I don’t want it to end. (Again this is rabid Pirate fans just being spoiled.)

I’ve grown to love this series and miss the characters like old friends. Luckily fans of the Wandering Inn series have a prolific author guiding us through these new worlds.

Thank you for sharing your work. I can hardly wait for Witch of the Webs June 11, 2024:)
