Our ability to prevent and reverse these conditions—and feel incredible today—is under our control and simpler than we think. The key is our metabolic function—the most important and least understood factor in our overall health. As Dr. Casey Means explains in this book, nearly every health problem we face can be explained by how well the cells in our body create and use energy. To live free from frustrating symptoms and life-threatening disease, we need our cells to be optimally powered so that they can create “good energy,” the essential fuel that impacts every aspect of our wellbeing.

Relationships have always been essential to human survival. Our bodies and brains are programmed to seek out connection, whether familial, romantic, or platonic. While our hearts are primed for compassionate connection, our nervous systems—which store all our past hurts and disappointments—are wired for threat and negativity.

Story
For the ancients, everything worth pursuing in life flowed from a strong sense of justice—or one’s commitment to doing the right thing, no matter how difficult. In order to be courageous, wise, and self-disciplined, one must begin with justice. The influence of the modern world often tells us that acting justly is optional. Holiday argues that that’s simply untrue—and the fact that so few people today have the strength to stand by their convictions explains much about why we’re so unhappy.

Story
The brain is a marvelous and complex organ that takes decades to fully mature, and no stage in that long process is more critical than the one we call the “toddler” years. During this period—from about one year old to three years old—a child transforms from a helpless infant into a running, chatting, insatiably curious little person with distinctive traits and interests. So, what is happening in the brain during this metamorphosis? How do humans acquire the motor, linguistic, and social skills that define this vital childhood period? Lise Eliot offers answers to these intriguing questions.

Not long ago, it was thought that the brain you were born with was the brain you would die with, and that the brain cells you had at birth were the most you would ever possess. Your brain was thought to be hardwired to function in predetermined ways. It turns out that's not true. Your brain is not hardwired; it's "softwired" by experience. This book shows you how you can rewire parts of the brain to feel more positive about your life, remain calm during stressful times, and improve your social relationships.

Fantastic information, no “bonus PDF”.
This book is literally life changing— it provides the knowledge, tools, and resources to rewire the brain, change your thinking, and reshape your life.
One major downside of the audio version— there is no accompanying “bonus PDF” that is mentioned all throughout the book. I have several audiobooks that have accompanying PDF’s and know exactly how to access them.
This one does not have the PDF attached to the download. If it did, this would be an easy 5 star.

Nothing like it!
Loved every minute of it, just ordered the hard copy cause I need more! Also love your voice Nicole, just the best all around. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

Grounded in science
I absolutely loved this book and how the author tied in every day relatable anecdotes to science and research, in a way that was very digestible and easy to follow! Thank you!

Love the Info but PDF Referred to Isn’t Available
First off, I really enjoyed the book.
Unfortunately, the Audible version doesn’t give you the full benefits. This is probably more of a rant about Audible than the title, but the author repeatedly referred to a “bonus PDF” but it wasn’t aviailable. I tried calling Audible who told me to click on the “View PDF” button. This would have been helpful if there was a view PDF button. Not sure if this is a publisher or Audible issue but it was frustrating.
My advice is to purchase the hard copy of the book rather than the Audible version (even though I enjoyed the British accent of the author) so that you can get the full benefits of the book.
