Publisher's summary

Maulkin and his Eternal buddies are on a roll. They're getting stronger, have two of the shards that will help prevent the return of an evil god, and even have a good idea where to find the rest.

Maybe Maulkin has taken a month off to hang out with his new elven girlfriend and learn how to swing his giant sword around, but hasn't he earned a holiday?

His reluctance to get out there and smack monsters definitely has nothing to do with the evil looking Voidgod powers that he's scared of telling the others about.... Or with Araphel's imminent return.... Or with having to fight a primordial dragon from the dawn of time....

Everything is fine. Shut up.

Great & Fun Sequel!

Fun and surprising LitRPG series with a fresh take on MC! Love that he's an honest brute and kind of a goofball, but it's great! It has been so much fun to enjoy! This sequel has been both fun and exciting! Get your copy now!

Good, but not great

I think this series is fun, but I have 2 major issues with this book. spoiler ahead.

the conflict between mercy and malkin felt overly forced. as if it came out of nowhere. it also resolved in a way that didn't make sense. he used the powers she feared, but then still sided with him, just because he jumped to save asher? I mean that's cool, but how many times since he got the shards did he do something similar?

next. it feels fast. like too fast. maybe this could have been stretched out over a few years or months, but we have a single time skip, and the 3 are taking down eternals thousands of years old, killing legendary warriors and even massive ancient dragons. all within 1 month of arriving on the world. maybe, just maybe there should have been more time for the characters to grow.

Like others have said, the Rise of the Dysfunctional Relationships in this book are making it *very* difficult to finish.

If I dont like a book, I normally dont review it, so othes can enjoy.

But this is just *RIDICULOUS.

Most dudes reading this book already have enough Toxix women in their lives without paying $14 to listen to another in Audiobook format.

FFS. And, just like IRL, this toxic chick is making the MC think it is *his* fault, whic causes him to go Full Sadsack/Navel Gazer and continously apologize and debase himself.

To the Author: Whatever chick you got in your life that is making write/view all women as you portray them in this book. Dump 'em! And do it soon! lol She is hurting your wallet bro:

I love that these are long books, but I simply *cannot* buy the next book for fear that this issue just continues.

We buy books for interest/escape.....not to get beat around the ears by yet another toxic, purposefully misunderstanding person.

Now I remember

It is a big disappointment even though the world is fairly decent. The protagonist is an idiot. His partners minus the lizard dude are stupid as is the crap he takes.

Better Sequel

This is an improved sequel over the first book, for the most part. Luke Daniels again provides a great performance; full of passion and distinct voices for all characters.

While Maulkin is still an addled minded colossal dunce, he does have surprisingly believable emotional growth. The only negative was the poor handling of Mercy's mistrust of Maulkin. It feels as if vital interactions that would justify her extreme, Orphia levels of irrational distrust were edited out. Despite eventual reconciliation, it makes Mercy seem worse than Orphia, who is at least openly honest with her terribleness.

Fun listen, Great characters!

It’s been a fun series so far, I like the characters more than the story though. High fantasy fetch quest so far, but maybe things will pick up into a new direction with book 3 :)

Outstanding narration and ending

I can't wait until book 3. I thought book 1 was ok, but book 2 was amazing. Mercy is still useless as ever, I mean what is she spending her points on? Anywho, besides that character every one else was well written. Some deaths surprised me hoping Maulkin can bring them back in book 3. I want to say more but I will give away too much of the book. Kudos to Luke Daniel's! He figured out how to edit out his air gasp between lines. Voice work was outstanding and he sounded like so many different characters and monsters. Overall a solid 5 out 5!
