Resumen del Editor
Professor and “de facto global therapist” to an ever-growing audience of hundreds of thousands of people builds on national bestseller The Parasitic Mind to argue that happiness is not merely a changeable mood but a process toward which we can strive by following some basic steps that have been known to humans for millennia.
Happiness is a fact
It is a scientific fact, which means we can measure it, we can assess it, and we can devise strategies to make ourselves happy and fulfilled human beings.
Or so says, Professor Gad Saad, author of the sensational national bestseller The Parasitic Mind and popular host of The Saad Truth podcast. Professor Saad roams through the scientific studies, the wisdom of ancient philosophy and religion, and his extraordinary personal experience as a refugee from war-torn Lebanon turned academic celebrity to provide one of the most provocative, helpful, and entertaining listens you are likely to encounter.
In The Saad Truth about Happiness you’ll learn the secrets to living the good life, including:
- how to live the life you want—not necessarily the life expected of you,
- why resilience is a key to happiness,
- why your career needs to have a higher purpose than a paycheck,
- how variety truly can be the spice of life,
- why marriage is so important,
- how Aristotle had it right when he preached moderation, and
- why you should take a hint from your dog and realize that playfulness equals happiness.
Enlightening, bold, and good-humored, The Saad Truth about Happiness is as lively, stimulating, and captivating as its author, who has become a “de facto global therapist” to an ever-growing audience of hundreds of thousands of people. Listen to this book and you’ll see why so many seek his counsel.

Dead cats. That's the image many people conjure up when you mention curiosity. An image perpetuated by a dusty old proverb that has long represented the extent of our understanding of the term. This book might not put the proverb to rest, but it will flip it upside down: far from killing anything, curiosity breathes new life into almost everything it touches.

Why are we devastated by a word of criticism even when it’s mixed with lavish praise? Because our brains are wired to focus on the bad. This negativity effect explains things great and small: why countries blunder into disastrous wars, why couples divorce, why people flub job interviews, how schools fail students, why football coaches stupidly punt on fourth down. All day long, the power of bad governs people’s moods, drives marketing campaigns, and dominates news and politics.

It’s commitment. Busting the myths most of us believe about commitment, Reeder shows that it all comes down to four variables.

How many times have you caught yourself lying in bed, watching TV, scrolling your phone, or just chilling and doing nothing? Trust me. I know how it feels like. Often, it looks like you want to do something, but your body just doesn’t respond, and at the end of the day, you start your mental self-destruction process because you haven’t done anything productive - and that is the first stage of super-laziness most people have to overcome.

Gad Saad gets it, thankfully he shares it.
the book provides great insights and great advice on how to just be happier. who doesn't want that. after all shouldn't that be everyone's goal. its not a heavy dose of psychology or silly mantras. you don't have to evaluate every aspect of your being or embark on some years long quest to achieve oneness. just gain a better understanding of what it means to be happy and how best to attain it. I'll revisit parts of it regularly as it is an enjoyable listen as well.

Gad should have read it
Would have much preferred if the author read , instead of a hired voice actor. Amazon should let the author have more power

Being Authentic
I enjoyed 95% of the book. I loved what he said about being your authentic self. I loved what he said about gratitude. the variety chapter made me a little anxious. but that was only 5% of the book and he gave me food for thought anyway.

Let Gad Read His Work
Love the book, but can’t stand the narrators. I was so excited for the release of this book. As with all Prof Saad’s creativity, it is playful, humorous and engaging. Unfortunately this narrator, is none of these qualities. Please, please, please let Gad read his next work!

Gad Saad Never Disappoint and ages like fine wine.
I instantly bought this book due to the parasitic mind being one of my favorite books of all time.
while being 2 hours away from finishing the book at the moment, so far the impression that it left is truly great, a refreshing breath of air for the self improvment/self help genre and am writing this as A avid reader and listener of the genre that went through all of the many best sellers of the genre and the underground pearls too, this one has a unique twist on it, funny references to many knowledgable pieces of literature and science,
casully banters the woke universties and trans community
i'm sold.

Socialism is a great theory
So many great explanations to the fallacy of all the offshoots of Socialism and communism. My favorite is that the theory is really great. They just have the wrong species. An ant colony would function well under socialism or communism since all the ants have the same motivation and desires for the collective good.

Like everyone else, would have preferred it to have been read by the author. The narrator didn’t do a bad job, he just wasn’t Gad Saad.
