The most important factors for weight loss are keeping insulin levels low and avoiding toxic substances like vegetable oils and grains. Restricting or removing these from your diet can lead to more efficient weight loss, even if you are inactive.
Eating foods with low animal fat can help reduce weight loss. A common question is whether cheese or dairy is addictive and how it affects the body was covered. Richard gives an explanation regarding ketone test strips and how they work, mentioning that once the body becomes adapted, the ketones would no longer be wasted and so less ketones would appear on the test strip.
Fat adaptation occurs much quicker than the adaptation to beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) utilization. This can take 3-12 months, but it's important to remember that it's a good thing. You don't need to continue testing your ketone levels once you've adapted.
One person working with Stephen have been working with has reversed their diabetes. It's not an issue to follow a carnivorous or ketogenic lifestyle for all types of diabetes, because it helps the body to lower insulin and process glucose.

Richard and Stephen answer questions from the audience about various topics related to the Carnivore lifestyle. Some of the topics covered include weight gain, migraines, digestive enzymes, and fasting. They also provide advice on figuring out if digestive enzymes would be beneficial for an individual and recommend trying zinc as a first step to improving stomach acid. Richard and Stephen discuss the importance of electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium for the keto and carnivore diets. They also touch on the potential dangers of over-hydrating with just water and stress the importance of listening to your body's needs.
They also briefly mention the Fat Club and Healthy Living Club courses, with the latter being a more gradual and educational approach for those who may be intimidated by keto or carnivore diets. One person asked about having constipation after starting to eat a low-carb, high-fat diet. They were wondering if there's anything else they can do to help them go to the bathroom. The hosts explained that the change in gut bacteria is normal during this transition phase and can affect bowel movements. They suggested trying MCT oil and adding more rendered fat to meals to help with constipation. They also mentioned that the body is absorbing more nutrients on this diet, so going to the bathroom less is normal following a carnivore diet.

In this meeting, a participant named Victoria discusses her recent issues with diarrhea while on a keto-carnivore diet. The host, Stephen, explains that this is a common side effect during the adaptation process and advises Victoria to reduce her fat intake and add electrolytes. Another participant, Mike, shares his conversation with his son's pediatrician who said keto can inhibit growth in children. The host explains that this is a common misconception and that ketones are beneficial for brain function and healing.

Then the group talk about treating fatty liver disease by healing the liver using fat, and eating a diet high in proteins and animal fats. They also recommend consuming electrolytes, specifically potassium, magnesium, and sodium, in equal ratios to help with muscle cramps or tightness. They discuss how calcium is not good on its own, and that supplements may prevent the absorption of needed nutrients.

Someone asked whether coffee is good for helping with fat burning on a ketogenic diet. The host said that it can help as a fat mobilizer, but excessive caffeine consumption can increase cortisol and adrenaline, which can spike insulin and pull you out of ketosis. Regarding babies being in ketosis, there is no danger to growth from being in ketosis on a ketogenic or carnivore diet. Babies are born in the metabolic state of ketosis, and their brains prefer ketones as the primary energy source. The fear of stunting growth comes from the potential lack of mTOR activation, which is necessary for growth. However, mTOR can be activated through protein intake, and it is not necessary to also consume carbohydrates to grow.

Here Richard and Stephen discussed glutathione as an anti-inflammatory compound and its activation through pro-oxidant pathways, as well as its role in the body. The hosts also answered a question about good lunch options at supermarkets, suggesting items like rotisserie chicken, sliced meats and cheeses, boiled eggs, and king prawns. They emphasized being smart and reading nutrition labels to avoid added sugars or other unwanted ingredients. Stephen and Richard discuss various topics related to a low carb, high fat diet and lifestyle. They cover topics such as how to make keto bread, the effect of low carb diets on insulin resistance, and the possibility of getting hypoglycemic episodes while on a low carb diet.
They also address some audience questions and provide resources for further information. One viewer, Rachel, is having trouble getting into ketosis, despite following a carnivore diet and keeping her carb intake minimal. She wants to start losing weight and is looking for ways to kick start her ketosis. The hosts suggest that she may not be measuring her ketones accurately and that there are other factors to take into consideration, such as the body's adaptation process and other compounds that may be affecting her insulin levels.

A viewer, Barry, asked about consuming carbs and whether it is possible to become ketogenic while still consuming carbs, such as bread. Stephen explained that it is possible to enter a ketogenic state as long as the carb intake is low enough. He also mentioned that while he supports all healthy lifestyles, he personally believes that animal proteins provide all the necessary nutrients and that even small amounts of vegetables can have negative effects due to their lectin and oxalate content. He suggests keeping vegetable intake to a minimum and focusing on consuming animal protein and fats. This discussion covered the effects of certain compounds in foods, such as turmeric and ginger, on the body and how they can be harmful when consumed in large amounts. It was suggested that these compounds, particularly oxalates and phytates, should be limited in the diet and eliminated, if possible, to improve health and well-being.

“I've been a high carb and low carb diet and found more success on the low carb diet. Despite criticism from vegans and other dieters, I believe the evidence and research supports a low carb diet. I've also dealt with abusive comments and struggles with mental health due to the criticisms. I want to provide the best information and help people live healthier lives. I also argue that the treatment of animals in the vegan world is not as clean and ethical as they claim it to be.”
In this podcast, the hosts discuss their thoughts on different health metrics that people may use to track their health, such as heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, and blood tests. They also touch on a recent debate between a carnivore advocate and vegans, discussing the idea that veganism may not be as ethically superior as some believe.

During a recent live stream on Rumble and YouTube, a question was raised about whether electrolytes can help with gout and lower uric acid. The answer is yes, as potassium citrate and magnesium citrate have been shown to help with these issues. It was also noted that animal proteins contain all the necessary vitamins and minerals for optimal health, while plant-based foods lack certain vitamins and minerals like vitamin E, B12, and D. The best source of vitamin D is from animal sources (after sunlight of course.)
To summarize the conversation, Stephen ordered a ribeye and eggs for breakfast at a steakhouse and Richard mentioned that it's important to find a balance between strict carnivore and complete elimination of other food groups. They discussed potential gut reactions and possible causes, such as too much fat or excessive consumption of certain animal proteins. They also addressed a question about teenagers doing carnivore, and both agreed that there is no need to treat teenagers differently when it comes to this way of eating.

  • Emily's Shocking Journey: Crohn's Reversed, FODMAPS and Fat Loss
    Jun 20 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Today Emily shared her story of being diagnosed with Crohn's syndrome, her struggles with managing it and the different treatments she had tried. She eventually found success with the carnivore diet and her recent blood tests show improvement in her health markers. The focus of this interview is on part two of the Emily's journey on a carnivore diet. We discuss her experience with blood tests, how she approaches the carnivore diet, and her views on FODMAP intolerance and its effects on the body.
Emily and Coach Stephen also briefly touch on FODMAPs and how it relates to their coaching work. FODMAPs are short-chain carbohydrates found in many foods and can cause gas, bloating, and abdominal pain in people with sensitive digestive systems. The elimination of FODMAPs has been shown to improve symptoms for many people. Monosaccharides, including fruit and honey, are part of the FODMAP group and can cause issues for some individuals, especially agave which is high in fructose. This can result in digestive problems, even with small amounts.
Emily is also back to discuss more about her weight loss journey on carnivore, as well as to address some comments regarding dairy. She talks about her weight loss progress, which has been a side benefit of carnivore, and her current weight of 168.7 pounds. Emily also shares that she has been struggling with a stall, which she believes is due to dairy in her diet. She plans to do an experiment by cutting out all dairy, including butter, and reducing her meals to two per day.
