  • 1st July Skool: Omega 3s, Statins, Hot Flashes, Iodine, Protein Requirements, Antioxidants and More
    Jul 5 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Richard and Stephen answer questions from the Carnivore Community. Topics discussed include the impact of electrolytes on a carnivore diet, tips for maintaining a healthy balance of sodium and potassium, and the importance of animal protein for bone health and nutrition in children. They also announce an upcoming 24-hour live stream event featuring various guests from the carnivore community.

Basically, when it comes to training and diet, we need to find a good balance and not overtrain or overeat certain substances. For example, too much iodine, too many omega-3s, not enough saturated fats, and too much coffee can be harmful.

For some complaints, especially from women, statins may also be affecting hormones negatively. It's important to listen to our body's hunger signals and make sure we are getting enough protein and fat in our diet. 0.9-1g of protein per pound of ideal body is a good rule of thumb.

    Jul 3 2024

Richard and Stephen discuss the effects of a low carb and ketogenic diet on thyroid function and how insulin resistance does not exist in a low carb state. They also take questions and comments from the audience, discussing topics such as the sensitivity of hormones and upcoming interviews with Dr. Ken Berry and the team at Carnivore Team GB. Richard talks about his experience with coffee addiction and discontinuing it. He also answers questions about the benefits of fish oil, changes in cholesterol levels on a carnivore diet, and increased thirst while on a carnivore diet. Rich and Stephen answer some questions on concerns about low energy and frequent urination while on a carnivore diet. They also discuss electrolyte consumption and suggest drinking to thirst and avoiding consuming too many electrolytes in the evening. They address a question about feeling hyper after starting the diet and whether eating late at night is a problem. Other topics covered include the potential for toxins in the bones of grain-fed animals and the importance of T3 and TSH levels in a low carb diet. Rich says, “I do recommend trying the MCT powder/oil, it's the quickest of the medium chain triglycerides to convert into ketones and used daily it can give you energy on demand (especially when combined with coffee), you may benefit more by aiming towards a ketogenic type lifestyle, and it could be worth trying some omega threes as well.”

Richard discusses his exercise routine and suggests trying MCT powder instead of oil.

The hosts go on to mention the influence of money on dietary guidelines and answer a question about white film on the tongue. A question about vegetarian and vegan diets is also addressed. Richard and Stephen answer questions about Carnivore, discussing its benefits and how to incorporate it into your life.

They touch on topics such as the role of honey, the importance of choosing high-quality meat, and the myth of needing to drink large amounts of water. Humans don't need to drink as much water as has been recommended. Over-the-top training and performance can lead to excessive sweating, which can cause dehydration. Many proponents of a carnivore or animal-based diet believe that hydration issues are caused by an imbalance of electrolytes, such as magnesium and calcium. It's important to strike a balance between these two nutrients to avoid leg cramps and other common issues. Additionally, new converts to this way of eating may experience a drop in muscle glycogen, which could be the reason why you may be experiencing cramping during your workouts or it may be due to a sodium imbalance.

Exogenous ketones are molecules produced outside of the body that can provide energy for cells. They are often used to lose weight, increase brain activity, and improve athletic performance. Taking too much of them can cause problems, and it is recommended to only take up to three servings per day. If you have fallen off the wagon and consumed sugar, the best way to get back on track is to make your next meal carnivore and to put physical barriers in place to prevent cravings. Increasing the consumption.

Cholesterol is essential for life and is important for cell formation, nutrient absorption, hormone production, and healing. LDL is often labelled as "bad" cholesterol, but it is responsible for carrying out important functions in the body. The level of LDL can vary from person to person and it's important to check whether it is damaged or not. High cholesterol is not a bad thing and can be beneficial for our health. Heart palpitations may be a common side effect when the body is going over to a new way of eating but this rare side effects tend to stop once adapted.

  • 3rd June: Ketones, Canned Vs Fresh Fish and How Vegans Demonise Other Ways Of Eating
    Jun 30 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Stephen and Richard discuss various topics related to the carnivore diet, including the use of exogenous ketones, the benefits of salt for dental hygiene, and the possibility of charging a membership fee for the Skool community. They also answer questions from members about specific diet concerns and share their experiences with the carnivore diet.

A listener asks for Richard's thoughts on tinned fish, and he says that while fresh seafood is always best, tinned seafood can still be a good source of nutrients if it's not stored in oils like sunflower or vegetable oil. Next, he addresses a question on carb cycling and says that while he and other carnivores don't need carbs to thrive, it's okay to experiment and find what works for your body. Lastly, he tackles a question about increased dental plaque on – The speaker discusses the tendency of veganism to demonize the opposition and express strong language towards non-vegans. They respond to a question about anemia in a vegan and recommend looking at the whole iron panel. Richard joins the call and answers a question about Capric acid, which he says is good for gut health and combating Candida.

The discussion continues about exogenous ketones and whether they are beneficial for people who are not on a ketogenic diet. The speakers discuss how the initial tests for the benefits of a ketogenic lifestyle were done on people who were supplemented with ketones because it was deemed too difficult to maintain the lifestyle. The discussion also touches on the benefits of exogenous ketones for brain health, heart health, and improving insulin sensitivity

Cholesterol is a vital nutrient required for essential body functions and cannot be considered as bad. It is necessary for cell formation, hormone production, and immune system functioning. The idea that high levels of LDL cholesterol led to heart issues has no scientific evidence to back it up. Studies have shown an inverse association between high LDL levels and the risk of death. The main causes of damaged LDL are excess carbohydrate consumption and intake of vegetable oils. These should be avoided for a healthy lifestyle.
The video discusses the benefits of consuming animal products in a carnivore diet, including improved digestion, energy levels, and mental health. It also addresses the misconception that saturated fats and cholesterol are unhealthy and explains how these substances are essential for the body. The hosts recommend avoiding processed foods and increasing consumption of animal-based products, while also providing tips for buying affordable meats. They also touch on the importance of exercise and dispel myths about cholesterol and heart disease.

  • 20th May: Fat Fasting and Supplements
    Jun 28 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

The hosts discuss the topic of nutrition and how glutathione can be increased through consuming a high protein diet. They also mention that chicken is not the best source of nutrients and lamb is preferable. The hosts also address a question about tummy troubles, stating that it could be due to transitioning to a new way of eating and that further information is needed to accurately assess the issue.
They touch on the topic of sunscreen and the importance of UVA and then the discussion is about "fat cycling" and "fat fasting," both of which involve consuming a high amount of fat for a certain period of time. The participants discuss using this method to achieve a state of fasting and to lose weight. They also talk about the importance of protein and how it should always be prioritized in the diet. The potential benefits and challenges of fat cycling and fat fasting are also discussed.
Later it is recommended to eliminate all foods for 1-2 weeks, then reintroduce them one at a time to determine food intolerances. The speaker emphasizes the importance of listening to your body and finding what works for you personally. The main cause of bloating and gastrointestinal distress when following a carnivore diet is the transition from a carbohydrate-based diet to a high-fat, low-carb diet. This can lead to changes in gut microbiome and digestive issues. Potential solutions include trying different sources of animal fats like tallow or beef dripping, eliminating eggs or other potential trigger foods, and sticking to grass-fed and grass-finished meats. It's important to be patient and give the body time to adjust to the new diet. One viewer asked if it would be worth taking supplements for vitamin A, B, or C if they aren't eating eggs or organs.
